UM electric motorcycle Renegade Thor has a tacit resemblance to Tacita T-cruiser

UM Motorcycles had showcased the UM Renegade electric bike at the 2017 EICMA show held in Italy. Unconfirmed reports stated that the electric motor for the UM Renegade Thor has been sourced from Tacita. On the other hand, the Tacita T-cruiser motorcycle has got its styling cues from the Renegade. 

In September 2017, UM Lohia Two Wheelers had launched the new Renegade Commando Classic and Renegade Commando Mojave (pronounced Mohaave). A year prior to this, the company had launched the Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sport S. The motorcycles have met with moderate success in India.

The new Renegade Commando Mojave and Renegade Commando Classic are powered by a 279.5 cc liquid cooled, Single Cylinder, 4 strokes, 4 valves, Spark Ignition engine. The engine produces 24.8 hp @ 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 23Nm @ 7000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with overdrive. The six-speed synchronized mesh overdrive has been added for easy cruising.

TACITA – THE ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE

The “Tacita project”, from Tàcita, Latin name of the Roman goddess of silence, sprang from the desire to develop a motorbike which respects the environment. Tacita was born in 2009, to produce a new enduro motorcycle with electric propulsion performance, whilst being innovative and unique in its characteristics.

The all new electric T-Cruise Motorcycle is the first Tacita Cruiser brought to life by Tacita’s Italian and American team of designers. Built from the DNA of the state of art Tacita T-Race –first ever electric motorcycle to race in Africa the Merzouga Rally in 2012 – the T-Cruise has been designed for the motorcycle enthusiast who loves to ride a Cruiser and enjoys the thrill of acceleration, the emotions of gear shifting and the electrifying sound that only a Tacita electric motorcycle can deliver.

The Tacita Cruiser boasts of two maps of motor power with a 5 speed separate gearbox with hydraulic clutch. The motor is a synchronous electric motor three-phase induction with two maps of motor brake. On a single charge it can two 270 km and can be charged from home through a 220V outlet in seven hours. It comes with an electric asyncronous three-phase induction motor with double mapping: Eco and Sport. The cooling system is Liquid-type, with circuits for motor and controller. Max power generated is 30 kW with max rpm at 8000 and a peak torque of 70 Nm. The T-Cruise is equipped with reverse, backing up couldn’t be easier.
