Bajaj Auto motorcycle sales dropped by 19 per cent in the month of April 2017 to 161930 units in the domestic market, as compared to 200433 units in April 2016. Exports, however, increased to 132002 units as compared to 91465 units in the month of April 2016, thereby registering a 44pc increase. On the whole motorcycle sales increased by 1 per cent in April 2017 to 293932 units (291898 units).
Bajaj Auto also registered a 38 per cent fall in sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market. It sold 15957 units in April 2017 as compared to 25700 units recorded in the corresponding period last year. Exports of commercial vehicles increased by 59 per cent in this period to 19911 units (12511). In total, Bajaj Auto registered total commercial vehicle sales of 35868 units (38211 units) in this period, degrowing by minus 6 per cent.
