Honda Motorcycle & Scooter
India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) has launched the new Activa 125 which is India’s highest
selling 125cc automatic scooter. The new Activa 125 now comes with the new
striking LED position lights integrated into the premium front chrome chest and
a larger 3D Honda emblem for more differentiated style. HMSI has termed these
changes as “Frontastic” style overhaul. It is Industry’s first automatic
scooter to meet both Automatic Head Lamp On (AHO) and Bharat Stage-IV emission
norms.
The new Activa 125 will come
in three variants: Standard (with Combi Brake System- CBS) which will cost Rs. 56,954, New Alloy
Drum(with CBS) for Rs. 58,900 and Alloy Disc (with CBS) Rs. 61,362. The prices
are ex showroom Delhi.
The scooter now has a new
mobile charging socket and a retractable front hook. The scooter has telescopic
suspension, longer & wider seat, bigger 12” rim size at front wheel, longer
wheelbase, comfortable upright sitting posture, CLIC mechanism (CLIC or the
Convenient Lift up Independent Cover mechanism makes maintenance easy and
simple to operate) and Ample Storage Space.
As per Government regulations,
CBS will be mandatory on all two-wheelers up to 125cc engine capacity from
April 1, 2018. The unique equalizer in Honda’s advanced Combi Brake System
(CBS) distributes braking force proportionately between front and rear wheels
simultaneously by pressing just the left lever. This results in reduced braking
distance & improved balance, leading to more confident riding compared to
conventional braking.
Automatic Headlamp On / AHO is
a new Government notification effective April 1, 2017. As per this, the
headlamp of all two-wheelers manufactured in India should be equipped to
automatically turn on as vehicle starts. Key benefits of AHO for the new Activa
125 rider are improved visibility of the vehicle in all conditions (dawn, dusk,
fog, rain etc) which will in turn reduce the risk of accident on road.
BS-IV is the new regulation
for reduced emission level approved by Indian government and will be mandatory
in all two-wheelers starting April 1, 2017. The new Activa 125 is Bharat
Stage-IV compliant.
Powering the Activa 125 is a 125cc
Honda Eco Technology (HET) engine that delivers 8.52bhp@6,500 RPM and peak torque
of 10.54Nm@5,000 RPM. The vehicle will be available in five colours – (New) Mat
Crust Metallic in addition to existing Pearl Amazing White, Midnight Blue
Metallic, Black, Rebel Red Metallic.
