OK Play India has launched the
E-Raaja, India’s 1st 100pc indigenously designed and developed green e-rickshaw at EV Expo. OK
Play India Ltd, a BSE listed company, is a leader in the field of Roto-Moulding
technology known for producing heavy duty, high density plastic products for
the automotive industry since 2003. The E-Raaja is an iCAT certified, plastic
body, pollution free, environment friendly green e-rickshaws.
Nitin Gadkari, Minister for
Road, Transport & Highways, congratulated Rajan Handa, MD, OK Play for this
new launch. Handa said, “E-Raaja is India’s first 100pc indigenously designed
and developed, zero emission plastic body green e-rickshaw to be manufactured
in India which meets the highest global standards of emissions. It is the
result of more than two years of in-house R&D by our dedicated research and
design team,”

Talking on the USP’s of the OK
Play e-rickshaws, Handa said, “The plastic body” OK Play green e- rickshaws
have multiple advantages over the conventional metal body e-rickshaws. Apart
from being lightweight, they are maintenance free and can be moulded in a wide
range of light fast and permanent colours. The inherent quality of the plastic
ensures high standard of hygiene and the mouldable design makes the e rickshaw
extremely safe and comfortable for passengers, drivers and the road users.
“OK Play e-rickshaw, the
E-Raaja is made from the highest quality plastic which is completely safe,
ergonomically designed with smooth, rounded edges, wide and sturdy bases and
easy to grip handles. They are more durable, weather-proof, easy to install and
will be available in a range of vibrant colours. It has no nails, no wood and
is better than other metal E-Rickshaws,” he added.
In the initial phase, OK Play
will simultaneously launch their e-rickshaws in North and South India. With a
production capacity of 3,00,000 e-rickshaws per year, OK Play has existing two
manufacturing units - one at Sohna (Haryana) to cater to North Indian market
and the other in Ranipet (Tamil Nadu) to cater to South Indian market.”
Talking of the market size,
Handa said, “ By conservative estimates, there are over 10 million cycle
rickshaws and 7.5 million auto-rickshaws in the country, which could
potentially be replaced over a period of time. Thus, there is a huge market
opportunity, which theoretically could run into hundreds of thousands of
crores.”
