What have we
got for you in our April 2015 Issue of Motown India? Well, for starters, we
take a look at all the cars and bikes launched in the month of March which includes
the Range Rover Evoque which will now be manufactured locally, the new Porsche
Boxter and Cayman GTS. Mini launched the Cooper S while Mercedes takes the cake
with 4 cars launched from the A-Class with a brand new engine, to a facelifted
B-Class, and the long awaited new CLS and E-Class Cabriolet. Volkswagen
introduced the special Edition Vento Magific as well. We have some more
launches from Hyundai, Skoda, Renault, GM and some more news on what Ford is up
to.
March has
been a massive month of launches for things with 4 wheels but has been even
bigger for the 2 wheelers. With Triumph bringing in two new Tigers and the
entire Benelli range in India brought out by DSK, the long awaited Pulsar RS200
also was revealed. We have some scoop from Regal Raptor Motorcycles that they
will also be entering India soon with affordable cruisers. Check that out as
well.
In the world
of Motorsports, we have a full coverage of the T1 Prima Truck Racing
Championship which took place at the Buddh international Circuit and we take a
look at what JK Tyre, Castrol and Wabco brought onto the table. We also bring
you the latest updates from the international paddock where Nico Prost and
Sebastian Vettel both triumphed in Formula E and Formula 1 respectively.
Exclusively, we
were also able to get a hold of Karun Chandok over the phone to pick his brain.
Karun talked about how different it is to drive a Formula E car to a Formula One
car and everything in between, he also talked about what he has learnt from the
engineers about electric cars which he didn’t have much knowledge about when he
signed up for it with Mahindra & Mahindra.
We took a
trip to Goa where he got his hands on the new Hyundai i20 Active crossover;
take a look at what we think of the new “Sports Styled Vehicle’ from the
Koreans. We have also been busy with couple of Germans. We take the BMW X3 off
tarmac and pin the throttle of the Wild Horses in the Audi RS7, read our thoughts
in the April 2015 Issue.
We were also invited by Cartier to their
Concours d’Elegance Show at Jaipur Polo Ground, and the Nissan Carnival where
they celebrated 10 years of Nissan in India. Nissan had brought the Nissan LEAF
and a couple of Nissan Patrols from Dubai, Check out what we have to say about
both those extraordinary cars as we take the Patrol off –road while we are guided
by Armaan Ibrahim in the Leaf. We were also able to talk to Guillaume Sicard to
get to know more about what is in the books for Nissan India in the near
future. He talks about the GT-R, the Xtrail, LEAF and Patrol, all coming to
India also the response Nissan has received from the Datsun brand.
Out of the
Blue, we also take a tour of Chakan, the growing hub of the Indian automotive
industry, while we also do a book review of a book called “Seven Uncommoners”
by Ridhima Verma.
In our B2B
section, we do a a thorough and comprehensive report on the Indian Auto
Component Industry with an overall report of the Automechanika show in Pragati
Maidan. At the show, we got in touch with some of the leading personalities in
the industries and got some insight into the future prospects of the Component
Industry in India. We look at Ford’s Sanand Plant being inaugurated where they
will make the new Figo and the Figo Aspire while also produce engines from
Sanand. Magnetti Marelli joins hands with Hero Motocorp to produce fuel
injector systems for Hero, and also the rest of the two wheeler industry. We
get the load on Volvo India and their aspirations to bring in the all new XC90
and the new V40 to India by the end of 2015 and more all just in our April 2015
