Even though Tata Motors’ total
sales grew by 10pc in December 2014, as compared to the corresponding month
last year, the company recorded a 52pc growth in passenger car sales for the
month at 9956 units, propelled by sales of Zest and Nano cars. However,
passenger utility vehicles sales declined by 24pc at 2084 units. This was
stated in a press release from Tata Motors.
The company’s total sales (including exports)
of its commercial and passenger vehicles in December 2014 were 41,734 vehicles,
compared to 37,836 vehicles, sold in December 2013. The company’s domestic
sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for December 2014 were 37,776
nos., an increase of 8pc over 35,010 vehicles, sold in December 2013.
Cumulative sales (including
exports) for the company for the fiscal were 362,995 units as compared to
435,079 vehicles, sold last year. This is a decline of 17pc.
While market continues to
remain challenged by macroeconomic trends, segments such as M&HCV showed a
62pc growth year-on-year. Other segments such as Passenger Cars continue to
show positive growth of 52pc and Exports have grown in December 2014 by 40pc,
over last year.
Passenger Vehicles
In December 2014, Tata Motors
passenger vehicles recorded sales 12,040 units, a growth of 30pc, compared to
9,272 nos., sold in December 2013.
The trend of growth in passenger vehicles
continued - with the strong Zest and Nano sales. While the sales of the
passenger cars in December 2014 were at 9,956 units, higher by 52pc, over
December 2013, the UV sales declined by 24pc at 2,084 units in December
2014.
Cumulative sales of all
passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 92,227 units,
lower by 11pc over last year.
Commercial Vehicles
The company’s sales of
commercial vehicles in December 2014 in the domestic market at 25,736 nos.,
remained flat. LCV sales were 13,298 nos., a decline of 26pc over December
2013, while M&HCV sales continued to show growth at 12,438 nos., which is
higher by 62pc, over December 2013.
Cumulative sales of commercial
vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 234,142 units, lower by 21pc
over last year. Cumulative LCV sales were 145,425 units, a decline of 32pc over
last year, while M&HCV sales at 88,717 units, were higher by 10pc, over
last year.
Exports
The company's sales from
exports were 3,958 units in December 2014, grew by 40pc compared to 2,826
vehicles in December 2013. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at
36,626 units., grew marginally by 1pc, over last year.
