On products displayed at the Auto Expo
The highlights for us this
year is Lubistrands and Oil Detact.
Coming to Lubistrands, we have developed
a lubricant which defies gravity, defies stickiness, there is complete
lubrication inside the engine, and this is targeted at heavy commercial
vehicles and stationary engines which are not all weather engines but are
running say six months in a year. The oil falls into the sump and the engine
is susceptible to rust and oxidation.
The oil has strands as a result of which there is complete lubrication
inside the system. This is one
technology we are show casing.
The second technology we are
showing is Detac. Once a product leaves its contained, its originality is lost.
One cannot ascertain if it is your product or not. This technology also helps
to identify the leakages in a system as well, especially in heavy commercial
vehicles where you cannot identify the leakages under the body. Once you put it
under UV light, the oil starts glowing in a peculiar colour, identifying the
leakages. We are giving this as a special case to the OEMs with a particular
colour for every company. They can identify any duplicity and address warranty
costs.
On the new technology and the demand for it from OEMs
We had kept it under wraps. We
are now showcasing it. We have got a phenomenal response from the OEMs.
On the company’s focus areas
We are both in the B2B as well
as B2C segments. Around 80pc of our revenues comes from B2C aftermarket
segment. In the B2B space we have been
approved by Hindustan Motors, we have their aftermarket, Atul Auto for its CNG
oils, and the ACE Group which has Ace tractors and Ace Cranes. A few more are
under consideration but none has been finalised.
On the company’s marketshare
There has been a strategy
shift in the company. Earlier we were blending for other stalwarts. But for the
past four to five years we have stopped blending for other brands. We are
focussing only on Unocal. Our CAGR for the last five years has been 107.5pc
which is phenomenal because our industry is growing by 1 or 2 pc on the whole.
We are grabbing market share slowly but we are not too big as of now but in the
next five years we hope to be one of the top ten players in the country.
On the Auto Expo-Components Show
I am really happy that the
Components Show and the Motor Show have been split. We now get a lot of quality
crowd, rather than a quantity crowd. This is what the component manufacturers
want. It also helps the heads of all the automotive companies to come here
(Pragati Maidan) and hold quality discussions. This was not possible when the
general crowd used to come in. We would love the general public to come in, but
if it messes up the business aspect, then it is a no show for us.
