Cars24,
a leading e-commerce platform for pre-owned vehicles, has announced the launch
of seven company-owned refurbishment centres called Mega Refurbishment Labs
(MRLs) this year. These MRLs will be set up across 35 acres of land in top
Indian metro cities with the aim of providing buyers with access to high
quality used cars coupled with warranty through a trusted channel.
The
pre-owned car ecosystem has always been plagued by inefficiencies due to the
inherent information asymmetry in the vertical. Cars24 is building a gold
standard for the quality of used cars in India- the convergence of disruptive
technology driven state-of-the-art facilities will transform the pre-owned auto
industry and thus, fill the standardisation and benchmarking gap prevalent in
the industry.
The
brand will also leverage AI, machine learning and data science to standardize
and optimize the refurbishment process. This will make the entire process
efficient and effective while eliminating subjectivity.
The
seven MRLs will be across key metro markets of Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore,
Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune. Around 20,000 cars per month will be
refurbished at these MRLs and upwards of 1500 auto experts jobs will be
created. In the first phase, starting October 2021, the facilities across Delhi
NCR, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Chennai, will be operational and running as per
capacity requirements.
