It was towards the end of 2017 that Bosch had successfully completed its sale of its subsidiary SEG Automotive Germany GmbH, the former Robert Bosch Starter Motors Generators Holding GmbH, together with all subsidiaries, to the purchaser consortium ZMJ (Zhengzhou Coal Mining Machinery Group Co., Ltd.) in Zhengzhou, China and CRCI (China Renaissance Capital Investment) in Hong Kong, China. From January 1, 2018 the former division became an independent company.
The local division in India is now SEG Automotive India. The new name is testimony to over a century of history in the development and production of starter motors and generators as well as a future-oriented focus on e-mobility. SEG Automotive India is an integral part of the global growth and production strategy.
ZMJ, the new owner, already operates in the automotive supply sector via various subsidiaries. For starter motors and generators, as well as in its capacity as a manufacturer of engine components for commercial vehicles and passenger cars, ZMJ is a major Chinese automotive supplier. Bosch had signed a sales agreement with ZMJ and CRCI in May 2017.
Anil Kumar M R, Managing Director, SEG Automotive India says: "The name is new, but SEG Automotive is committed to continuity, especially in terms of location strategy and our employees. Their many years of experience in the company, competence and commitment contribute significantly to our success. In the future our locations in India will play an even more important role in the worldwide SEG Automotive business, and continue to be an attractive employer in India. We strongly collaborate with our customers to remain as the preferred partner in the automotive industry.”
SEG Automotive operates from 16 locations in the most important automobile markets in the world and has over 8,000 employees.
