Leading
tyre manufacturer Apollo Tyres Ltd announced its entry into the two wheeler
tyre market with the launch of their ‘Apollo Acti’ series. The company began
its operations as a commercial vehicle tyre manufacturer and later in the year
2000 forayed in the passenger vehicle space. The new offering from Apollo will
be available for both bikes as well as scooters and will cover 85pc of the
two-wheeler tyre replacement market.
The
new Acti series has been designed and developed at the company’s global R&D
centre in Chennai. The Indian two wheeler tyre market is growing at a CAGR of
8.5pc which presents a great growth opportunity for tyre manufacturers. Despite
being late to the party Apollo Tyres have entered the market with three
different patterns for front and rear motorcycle tyres and 2 patterns for
scooter tyres. While the rear application motorcycle tyres will be offered in
actiGRIP R1 and R2 block pattern and
actiZIP R3 in directional pattern the front application motorcycle tyres will
be offered in actiSTEER F1 straight rib pattern and actiZIP F2 and F3 in
directional patterns. Apollo Tyres is also offering scooter tyres for front and
rear applications in 2 directional patterns actiSTEER S1 and S2 as well as 2
block patterns actiGRIP S3 and S4.
The
Apollo Acti series tyres facilitate dry and wet braking as well as good
cornering stability. The primary focus of design has been done with an emphasis
on road grip, safety and comfort. According to a press release the Acti series
tyres are robust and provide good grip as well as high speed cornering
performance. The tyres have been manufactured using new age polymers-based on a
high mileage tread compound and have a stress free casing structure with extra
protection at tread and bead area. The Acti series will be available with tube
and tubeless fitting.
