MUMBAI: TATA Autocomp Mobility Telematics Limited (TMT), A Tata AutoComp Group Business unit, has recently designed and successfully implemented a unique GPS (Global Positioning System device) based vehicle tracking solution for Maharashtra Pollution control board (MPCB) to monitor the vehicle transporting bio medical waste in the state. With this MPCB has become the country's first control board where GPS technology is being used to monitor bio medical waste collection and prevent the environment and health hazards. This GPS-based Waste Carrier Truck Management Solution has designed to ensure cleanliness and transparency in garbage/waste disposal. TATA Autocomp Mobility Telematics have already deployed their GPS based vehicle tracking solution in Pune, Aurangabad, Delhi, Amritsar, Guwahati, and Guntur on waste pick up trucks with municipal corporations.
Advantages of the Mobility Telematics technology:
•Prior to implementation of this system, there was no method available to validate the bio waste carrier vehicle movement and dumping the waste at designated location.
• After deployment of this system, MPCB is able to monitor the truck movement in real time basis on street level GIS map
•Calculates the number of trips a particular vehicle make in a day from pick up locations to dumpling location.
•MPCB in collaboration with TMT has deployed GPS tracking system on more than 140 waste carrier trucks to trace the movement online and identify the exact location, route adherence at any time from an internet control centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Milind Dalal, CEO Tata AutoComp Mobility Telematics Limited said, “Tata AutoComp Mobility Telematics is providing a unique technology through its GPS device to track the movement of the vehicle and ensure that the hazardous bio medical waste collected from health care establishments is transported to common treatment facility regularly within a specified time period and it is not being disposed at an unauthorized location. We are proud to be associated with MPCB in this initiative.”
