PMP Auto Components commences production at Satara

PMP Auto Components Pvt Ltd, an Ashok Piramal Group company has commenced production at its state-of-the-art wiping system plant at Satara in Maharashtra. The wiping system plant will cater to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), both domestic and overseas customers. The product has special features like pedestrian protection, anti-chattering and circuit breaker. PMP Auto will offer complete wiping system (wiper motor, linkages, windshield washer pumps, reservoir etc.) to its customers. The technology for this plant was acquired from Europe where PMP Auto operates a wiping system plant at Prague in the Czech Republic. PMP Auto acquired two wiping system plants in Hungary and the Czech Republic in 2007 and 2008 respectively. The operations were subsequently consolidated at Prague. The plant at Satara meets the stringent European standards required for manufacturing wiping system. The first customer to which the wiping systems from this plant are supplied is Maruti Suzuki for its Alto project. The wiping system emerged as a growth area following a study conducted by the company a couple of years ago. The company saw a good opportunity to grow this business and adopted an organic as well as inorganic growth strategy. PMP Auto currently enjoys a 7pc market share in the wiping business in Europe and 2pc of the world market share in this segment. The company is aiming to be among top 5 suppliers to global OEMs for wiping system business in the next 5 years. The PMP Auto plant at Satara was set up in 1985 and currently manufactures alternators and windshield washer pumps. PMP Auto has an impressive clientele in the international market such as Volkswagen, Skoda, Fiat, Suzuki, Peugeot-Citroen and Volvo. In the domestic market, all leading brands such as Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Eicher, TAFE, New Holland, Simpson, Greaves, SAME, VST are PMP Auto’s customers. The company has manufacturing plants at Mumbai, Satara and Rudrapur in India. It also has a plant at Prague in the Czech Republic.
