Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has announced the opening of an integrated test lab for its vehicle and hydraulics products at Ranjangaon, India. The lab is located within the existing truck components plant premises and has 38,000 square feet of testing area. ‘’The new integrated test lab is an investment in efficient product design and innovation for our customers,” said Alexander M. Cutler, Eaton chairman and chief executive officer. “Eaton has established a strong and growing engineering presence in India through the Professional Services Center in Kharadi, Pune, and the new lab will add significant value to our local manufacturing and engineering efforts.” The lab can conduct hardware tests to validate current and future designs for both global and regional products. It can test numerous hydraulics components such as gear, vane and piston pumps, steering control units and valves for performance and endurance limits. In addition to the hydraulics components, the lab has capabilities to test vehicle products such as valve trains, synchronizers and roll over valves. The facility will also house a supercharger test stand in the future. As Eaton has grown globally, now generating 55 percent of revenues outside the United States, its commitment to engineering excellence continues to expand with facilities like the new test lab. From the transformational truck axle for a fledgling trucking industry that launched the company in 1911 to today’s industry-leading uninterruptible power system equipment that helps provide safe, efficient electrical power in hospitals and data centers, innovative solutions have been a part of Eaton’s heritage throughout its history. Eaton Corporation is a diversified power management company with 2010 sales of US$13.7 billion. Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2011, Eaton is a global technology leader in electrical components and systems for power quality, distribution and control; hydraulics components, systems and services for industrial and mobile equipment; aerospace fuel, hydraulics and pneumatic systems for commercial and military use; and truck and automotive drive train and powertrain systems for performance, fuel economy and safety. Eaton has approximately 70,000 employees and sells products to customers in more than 150 countries.
