Leading
two-wheeler manufacturer in India Hero MotoCorp demonstrated its technological
prowess by showcasing several new models at the Auto Expo.
The
Hero Hastur , an all-new 620-cc motorcycle promises to shake-up the
middleweight motorcycle segment with its lean, nimble and powerful appeal. The
Hastur comes with a water-cooled parallel twin engine that delivers the power
of 79bhpPS @ 9600 rpm. This power delivery comes from a new and very compact
powerplant that serves as a stressed member of the chassis for optimum mass
centralisation to give best in class handling and manoeuvrability. The unique
design features with auto style power transfer to give best fuel economy,
advanced cylinder head and combustion design for reduced emissions.
The
Hastur makes an aggressive style statement with its street fighter looks and
the minimalistic bodywork strips it to performance essentials to showcase big
sticky tyres, performance suspension and brakes, geodesic tubular chassis, and
a powerful engine. With all this and much more, this motorcycle is ready to
respond to the athletic rider’s every desire like nothing ever ridden before.
The
Hero iON is an environment-friendly Hydrogen-fuel cell vehicle concept
All
electronic, ion has a hydrogen fuel cell in the centre structure, as well as
advanced batteries and super capacitors to smooth energy needs of braking and
acceleration. The batteries use an advanced Li - Air technology that has
extremely high energy density since they use oxygen from the air instead of
storing in an oxidizer internally. Airy, open wheels contain the rotor
component of hubless electric traction motors that uses magnetic levitation
technology that works on zero friction. When needed, they double up as
brakes.
Ion’s
light finger-touch controls the handle grip. The steering is through a rotating
front and rear wheel and suspension systems around the pivots that are mounted
on the power module. Multi-axis gyros and accelerometers maintain the stability
at all times. All-directional sensors for VSA (Vehicle Situational Awareness)
keep track of the surrounding traffic flow and make corrections to the PBS
systems as needed.
Its
advanced suspension system, called the m-link, utilises magnetorheological
damping which adapts to the road condition real time using several on-board
sensors. These sensors continuously vary the power of electromagnet that
controls the damping characteristics of the suspension system.
Core
basic vehicle information is available in the compact instrument cluster, but
full information and communication is transmitted to the rider’s helmet. VSA
system overrides any lower priority communications when traffic density becomes
significant.
Hero
SimplEcity is the first electric motorcycle from an Indian company. The all-new
SimplEcity, the lightweight urban electric motorcycle, reiterates Hero
MotoCorp’s commitment to efficient, reliable personal transportation for a
green planet.
The
revolutionary SimplEcity promises to offer an efficient and reliable intra-city
travel experience to the urban commuters. By keeping weight to a minimum of 35
kg and designing every system for optimum performance in city conditions, Hero
has created a whole new segment of motorcycles for a cleaner and greener
planet.
The
SimplEcity comes with innovative features, such a removable battery pack for
the convenience of recharging. Another innovation is the dashboard that is
delivered through the rider’s smart phone through the free SimplEcity
application. This can be achieved by conveniently mounting the phone on the
handlebars. The “walk’ mode lets rider roll it effortlessly when you walk or
gives it a push if taken upstairs.
