Acquisition
in the digital world continues and the latest is that the bus tracking and
analytics firm, YourBus has been acquired by the ibibo group. This was stated by
YourBus in a press release. The group
had acquired redBus in less than a year back. The ibibo group had bought redBus
for an estimated Rs 800 crore last year.
The YourBus
acquisition was apparently done with the aim of fusing its strengths into
redBus so that the company will be able to successfully provide real time
information of its buses. The company statement, however, did not disclose the
terms of the buyout.
The YourBus
statement read: "With redBus, we want to take Live Bus Tracking to every
vehicle in the country and make it a de-facto feature not only in our full
vehicle fleet but also to all our bus passengers. Albeit all our individual
efforts, we gathered that we needed a bigger support/network like redBus.
Obviously, we couldn't think of better home for yourBus".
YourBus is a
GPS enabled bus platform providing real time information to travellers about
the buses, both through online as well as mobile phones. Besides live tracking
of a bus, the service further is extended to other such information like the
expected time of arrival, besides the halt report for bus owners as well as
passengers.
Part of
Morpheus Group, YourBus was set up by Rajesh Mallipeddi and Satya Padmanabham
back in 2011. As of now, YourBus is offering its services in excess of 200
buses across the country. Having said that, the acquisition would mean that
YourBus will be able to widen its reach to more than 1,000 new buses that ply
under redBus' services.
