Delphi Automotive's Connectivity Navigation Radio (CNR) platform is now available on Audi's newest vehicles, the sophisticated A6 Sedan and the elegant Audi A7 Sportback. Designed to enhance the ability of vehicle manufacturers to differentiate their vehicles with new and innovative technology, the infotainment product has made it possible for Audi to easily adjust its media center capability to meet the unique needs of these and future vehicles. The flexible infotainment system design is based on Delphi's scalable hardware platform unveiled last year on the Audi A1. The CNR platform addresses multiple market needs, including phase diversity dual-tuner reception, the ability to add multiple digital tuner modules such as digital audio broadcast/DAB and multiple types of connectivity. The open CNR software architecture allows Audi to configure its vehicles with simple software upgrades to offer more than 20 variations of a new infotainment platform. The scalable design also helps to differentiate vehicles while fulfilling requirements for radio reception, user connectivity and navigation, now and in the future. "The Delphi Connectivity Navigation Radio platform is a feature-rich, embedded infotainment system that offers our customers flexibility," said Wilhelm Steger, Delphi managing director, Infotainment & Driver Interface. "Delphi's unique design can be adapted to provide functionality appropriate for a variety of vehicles. With the CNR, Delphi is delivering innovation that provides the flexibility of individualized entertainment, information and communication." Delphi's CNR supports navigation functionality with a high-resolution color display and 2.5D graphics, and includes map data on a single SD card. The connectivity functionality allows drivers to connect portable devices such as an iPod®, media players, memory cards and flash drives to the vehicle's audio system. Using Bluetooth technology, the unit can be configured to allow hands-free calls or even stream music from the driver's mobile phone to the high-performance infotainment system. Also featured on the Audi A6 and A7 are Delphi's industry-leading security system, LED lighting control module and interior wire harness.
