Mercedes is planning to make a few changes to their E-Class range globally from September onwards. One of these would be the much awaited new 9G-Tronic gearbox which would be put in as a new standard equipment, thereby resulting in more power and lower emissions. The New 9G-Tronic gearbox developed in-house by Mercedes-Benz will be coupled with their E 350 BlueTEC engine in the Saloon, Estate, Coupé and Cabriolet.
The pairing of this new technology will bring a remarkable reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of up to 17 grams per Km. The E 220 BlueTEC will also see an increase in power of up to 177 hp plus another 7hp, while CO2 Emissions would be reduced to 16 grams per km on being paired with the 7G-Tronic transmission. The E 220 BlueTEC SE Saloon can then boast of the lowest CO2 emissions in the range at 116 grams per km. The E 400 AMG Sport will be seeing an increase in engine capacity for their V6 range of upto 3,498 cc on both the Coupe and the Cabriolet, again with lower emissions of up to 17 grams per km.
The Collision Prevention Assist Plus will now be installed as standard to every E-Class Saloon, Estate, Coupe and Cabriolet in order to reduce the impact in-cases of rear-end collisions. The system will provide visual and acoustic warnings in-case of an imminent head-on collision. Their adaptive brake boosting effect and activation of Pre-Safe take place on application of the brake, in-case the driver fails to apply the brake in time, autonomous braking will be activated at speeds up to 100 kmph to reduce the severity of a collision with other vehicles which may be slower or have already stopped. This system has been fine tune to brake in response to stationary vehicles at speeds of up to 48 kmph and prevent rear-end collisions at speeds of up to 38 kmph.
