Maruti Suzuki India Limited
handed over 15 new vehicles (13 Ertigas and 2 Eeco ambulances) to the Haryana
Police department on February 13, 2017. Through this initiative the company
aims to support Haryana Police department in improving road safety on the Delhi
Western Peripheral Expressway / Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway in the state
of Haryana.
These vehicles will be used
for patrolling, surveillance and addressing medical emergencies on the
expressway. They will help bring down the number of road accidents due to over
speeding and also provide immediate medical support to the injured thus
bringing down the number of fatalities on the corridor.
The KMP Expressway forms an
important corridor that connects NH2 and NH8 on the outer peripheral of Delhi.
It works as a bypass for vehicles coming from Jaipur towards Faridabad or Agra and
similarly for vehicles heading towards Jaipur and Mumbai from Agra or Kolkata.
The vehicles were presented to
Sandeep Khirwar, Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon, by C S Raju, Executive
Director (HR), Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Others present at the occasion were
Shibash Kabiraj, Joint Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon and Ms. Mamta Singh,
IPS, IGT, South Range. Senior officials from Maruti Suzuki India limited,
Mahesh Rajoria, Sr Advisor, Driving Training, Kanwaldeep Singh, Vice President,
Corporate Planning and Communications and Ranjit Singh, Head CSR were also
present at the occasion.
The 13 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
cars are customised to meet the Traffic Police requirement. They are fitted
with accessories like Beacon Light, Siren, Public Address System and Body
Graphics. Two of these Ertiga cars have interceptors equipped with laser based
traffic speed video systems, printers, roof-mounted day and night all-weather
PTZ cameras, LED monitor Roof light bars and public address mechanisms. The
interceptors are also fitted with breath alcohol analyzers to detect if
motorists are drunk. Additionally, the 2 Eeco Ambulances will help the police
in providing immediate medical help to the accident victims on the expressway.
