After its successful tie up with Italian motorcycle major MV Agusta, India’s Motoroyale, the superbikes venture of the Kinetic Group has tied up with the second brand that will soon be launched in India, the legendary Italian SWM.
SWM currently has as many as 12 two wheeled models on sale, ranging from 125 cc to 600 cc. Motoroyale will launch the SWM range in a stepwise manner starting end 2017 with the Superdual 650. The Superdual is the first 600cc on road as well as off road tourer in India. The SWM SuperDual is a four-stroke, single-cylinder 600 cc engine sourced from the Husqvarna TE 630 and manufactured in Italy. It gets the under-slung exhaust configuration which makes about 54 bhp of power and 53.5 Nm of torque.
With an 18-litre fuel tank, long travel suspension, high ground clearance and dry weight of 186 kg, the SWM SuperDual promises all the features identified with an adventure motorcycle and will be India’s first on road- off road motorcycle ideal for touring as well.
Motoroyale had made a foray into the high end motorcycle market one year back with MV Agusta range of superbikes. SWM, which stands for Sironi Vergani Vimercate Milano but is colloquially known as “Speedy Working Motors”, has been known for making enduros, motocross and off road motorcycles since it first commenced operations in 1970.
SWM has recently launched an exciting range of products that have done exceedingly well across the globe due to their Italian design, strong quality combined with affordability; and is now keenly eyeing the growing Indian market through this exclusive arrangement with Motoroyale (by Kinetic) for manufacturing and distributing their products in India.
SWM Motorcycles was founded in 1971 by by Piero Sironi and Fausto Vergani and was based in Milan, Italy. SWM manufactured Observed Trials, Enduro, Motocross and off-road motorcycles in the 1970s and 1980s and has been one of the world’s most well known brands since. It is today headed by Ampelio Macchi who is the creator of the history of prestigious Italian brands as Cagiva, Husqvarna and Aprilia and has obtained 51 World titles, 46 with Husqvarna and 5 with Aprilia.
